Orders

Order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, No. 7 of 2 October 1918

In order to strengthen discipline and facilitate the management of troops, as well as to distinguish military personnel from the rest of the population by their appearance, I order:

Military personnel shall wear exclusively the combat uniform assigned to them during the war and not yet cancelled by any legal All-Russian authority. Shoulder-straps shall be in khaki, with established distinctions of rank and unit ciphers. Instead of the previous cockade, a new tricolour cockade shall be introduced: the inner field shall be white, the middle border shall be blue, and the outer border shall be red. Until it is designed and manufactured, it is permitted to wear the old officer's and soldier's cockade, covered with a narrow national ribbon.

I hereby abolish sleeve insignia.

This uniform shall be worn until a new model is developed and more favourable conditions for army clothing are established.

To raise the prestige of the Field Treasury and Field Control among soldiers, I authorise the following ranks:

To wear khaki shoulder-straps, as established for officials, with braid assigned to the Ministry of Finance and State Control, and with distinctions according to the position held.

To wear military-style outer garments, caps and hats in khaki.

To temporarily include the 1st Samara Cavalry Regiment in the 2nd Steppe Corps.

The regiment shall henceforth be known as the "1st Samara Hussar Regiment" and shall be assigned the uniform of the former 5th Alexandrian Hussar Regiment.

1 – artillery units (here – the 1st Siberian Artillery Divizion);
2 – engineer (sapper) units (here – the 1st Siberian Engineer Divizion);
3 and 4 – reserve units.

It remains unclear whether the Reserve units went by the previous name of zapas ("reserve") during the period of the Ufa Directory, or whether the term kadrovy ("cadre") introduced by the Provisional Siberian Government was approved, so both possible options are given.
