Uniforms of the Blue National Army of the All-Russian Constituent Assembly

The uprising in the Chelyabinsk and Troitsk districts in June-August 1920

All material and reconstructions are by A. Karevskiy unless noted otherwise.

New soldiers received arm-bands with the letters "Г.А.". A blue banner was made.

They justified their colour by saying that their power did not belong to a party, but was "the instrument of the majority of the Russian people". The Blue Army saw its "credo" as non-partisanship and relied on this in contrast to the still fresh memory of party building and party squabbles that had led Russia to coups and civil war.

From "The Manifesto of the Blue Army", found in Klyuchevskoe, Yemanhelinskaya Stanitsa

The Blue Army is fighting for an immediate convening of the Constituent Assembly, to defend our national interests, and therefore is officially named: "The Blue National Army of the All-Russian Constituent Assembly".

The Blue Army, raises its blue banner high, and puts forward the following slogan: "Everything for the people and everything through the people".

The appearance of the letters has been reconstructed based on the inscriptions on the preserved army banner, captured by ChON units in August 1920 and currently stored in the Central Military Museum in Moscow.

Pygmy Wars Notes

The original for this page is at kolchakiya.ru/uniformology/Bleu_army.htm.

The blue here is goluboy (hence the "G.A." arm-bands). That is often translated as "pale blue" or "sky blue". It definitely excludes any dark shades of blue.

A slightly longer article on the Blue Army is here.

Discussion on the translation choices I have made can be found here.
